THE CORE IDEA

A CO-HOBBY SPACE
FOR SLEEPY HOLLOW

LIKE A COWORKING SPACE. BUT FOR FUN. NOT WORK.

An ai generated image of a lounge area, with people sitting at tables with board games, puzzles, reading books and other activities.

The Hollow Deck will be a membership-supported co-hobby space where you can bring your own hobby, use something from our catalog of hobbies, or discover something completely new. Board games, books, puzzles, LEGO, craft supplies and other shared activities are always within reach, alongside events, workshops, live music and more. Come for the hobby. Stay for the community.

WHO IS IT FOR?

CONNECTION SEEKERS.

Restaurants are built around a meal. Bars are built around drinking. Stores are built around buying something. More and more of the world around us is becoming consumable.

There aren't many places designed simply around showing up, doing something you enjoy and being around other people often enough to become a regular.

Friendship and community grow through repeated, low-pressure contact: seeing the same faces, sharing an interest, staying a little longer than you planned and eventually knowing who will probably be there next time.

THE HOLLOW DECK IS FOR PEOPLE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO.
WHO LACK EASY, RECURRING CONTEXTS TO DEVELOP OR DEEPEN SOCIAL TIES.

VISION FOR A SPACE

FLEXIBILITY. COMFORT. VISIBLE ACTIVITY.

The Hollow Deck will be a co-hobby space: a shared place built around the things people already enjoy doing. You might come to play something. Make something. Join a club. Learn something new. Meet friends. Bring a book, puzzle or half-finished project and simply want somewhere else to be for a while.

The activities create a reason to come in. The real product is having a place you want to come back to.

A floor plan layout with labeled sections including flexible use space with tables, a game library, a library and puzzles area, a pool table, a private/program room, a snack and coffee station, and a small performance corner.

FOUNDER

HI, I’M DARREN.

I'm a Sleepy Hollow resident, husband, dad and serial hobbyist. I've always been drawn to the kinds of things that give people an excuse to spend time together—games, creative projects, shared interests and the communities that form around them.

But as I've gotten older, one thing has become increasingly obvious: making new connections as an adult is hard. Maintaining them can be even harder.

I started thinking about what would happen if the space itself were designed differently. Not around one particular hobby. Not around maximizing turnover. Not around needing an occasion. But around giving people lots of small reasons to return.

GAMES AND HOBBIES ARE THE INVITATION. THE PRODUCT IS BELONGING.
